ROAD PROJECTS
DELTA EARMARKS N10b FOR ISSELE-UKU RING ROAD
THE
Delta government has set aside more than N1 billion for the completion
of the Issele-Uku Ring Road in Aniocha North Local Government Area of
the state. Assemblyman, Victor Ochei representing the Local Government
in the states House of Assembly, said in Asaba that the first phase
of the 37-kilometre road had been inaugurated.
Ochei also said that the Onicha-Olona-Atuma road
in Aniocha North Local Government Area had been completed at the cost
of more than N80 million. He said that another road project that had
been completed by the state government in his constituency was the
Issele-Uku-Issele-Nkpetime-Onicha-Olona-Ezi-Ebu-Illah road. The
lawmaker, who was speaking on the dividends of democracy that he had
attracted to his constituency, said that the perimeter fencing of two
secondary schools in the area had been done. Ochei further said that
some classroom blocks had been built for the Technical School at
Issele-Uku, while some science equipment were provided for the
Issele-Azagba Mixed Secondary School.
"We have been able to
make sure too that the hospital at Issele-Uku and another at
Onicha-Olona were completed," he said.
On electricity, Ochei said that a 7.5 MVA injection
sub-station was provided for Issele-Uku and that transformers had been
distributed to various communities. He also spoke on the incessant
strikes by teachers in the state and said that he could only play a
mediating role and would continue to seek peaceful resolutions. Ochei
added that handing schools back to the various religious organisations
was the best thing to do.
