The State Governor, Dr.
Emmanuel Uduaghan has charged communities to always rally around their
royal fathers to help make the task of discharging their duties an
easy one.
The State Governor gave
this charge today (08.06.08), through his deputy, Prof. Amos Utuama
(SAN) at the official presentation of staff of office to His Royal
Highness Obi Unokaiwedi Azike 1,the Obi of Ubuluubu in Anocha North
Local Government area of Delta State.
Dr Uduaghan stressed the
importance of the people of Ubulubu community to try and do every
thing possibly to promote the integrity and accord the new Obi the
respect he truly deserved.
He however, advised the
new Obi to always be transparent in the discharge of his
responsibilities and stressed the need for him to allow the present
democratic dispensation in the country to influence his administrative
style and governance.
In his address at the
occasion, the Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Area, Hon.
Jaunty Okwudi thanked the Governor for recognizing the Obi observing
that the occasion demonstrated the Governor's high regard for the
traditional institution.
The chairman also
congratulated the new Obi and Ubulubu Community for really accepting
that "Okpala-bu isi" meaning, the most senior man is our leader and
advised other communities in the state to emulate the peaceful process
Ubulubu community choose their leader.
In his address on behalf
of the community, Hon. Isaac Okoh commended the governor for the
democratic dividends extended to Ubulubu community and other parts of
the state.
Hon Isaac Okoh also
thanked the state government for the practical demonstration of
respect for the traditional institution and reflection of the
democratic trend on grass root.
They however, appealed for
good access roads linking other communities in the state adding that
as an agrarian community, they are highly in need of good network of
roads to enhance their movement and evacuation of farm produce to
areas where they are needed.
He also appreciated the
state government approval of the community new secondary school and
appealed to the governor to facilitate posting more teachers to the
school.
The highpoint of the
occasion was the presentation of the staff of office to the new Obi by
the state deputy governor.
In the cause of his
official duty today (09/06/08) the Deputy Governor, Prof Amos Agbe
Utuama also paid unscheduled visit to Asaba Airport project to inspect
the level of job at the site.

EARL Y completion of the Agbarho/Okan road in Delta State being
supervised by the Ministry of Works will bring about more economic
activities in the area.
The
state's deputy governor, Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN) made the observation
yesterday(02.06.08), when he paid an unscheduled visit to the road
which is still under construction.
Prof. Utuama lauded the quality of the job being done at the road
especially as it concerns construction of bridges and culvert noting
that it will stand the test of times.
He
emphasized that it was important for contractors executing projects in
the state to carry out their job diligently, do it to specifications
and deliver on time reiterating that the Agbarho/Okan road is an
important road that will open up many communities.

THE
Deputy Governor of Delta State, Prof Amos Utuama (SAN) was among
dignitaries that attended the burial ceremony of Mrs Ewetan Hawkes,
mother to legal luminary, Prof ltse Sagay.
Prof. Utuama attended the funeral service which took place at Our
Saviour's Church, Tafewa Balewa Square, Lagos accompanied by his wife,
Nelly and some top government officials recently (29.05.08).
Speaking at the funeral service, Ven. Prof. Obaro lkime stated that
humans should always carry out their activities knowing there is a
last day emphasizing, death is a certainty.
Prof. lkime advised Christians in particular to turn away from evil to
enable them make heaven adding that Nigerians should leave corruption
for incorruption from mortality to immortality.
He
described late Mrs Hawkes as a renowned Christians who will find her
way to the bosom of the Lord.

DEPUTY Governor of Delta State, Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN) yesterday
(02.06.08), led top politicians especially members of Urhobo Political
Class to commiserate with the families of late octogenarian
politician, Madam Alice Nikoro at Abraka, Ethiope East Local
Government Area of the state.
Among those who graced the ceremony were the Commissioner for Project
Monitoring, Chief Ejaife Odebala, that of Special Duties, Government
House, Chief Champion Kpateghe, former Commissioner for Water
Resources, Chief Ighoyota Amori, former Commissioner for Information,
Mrs. Judith Enamuotor and former Commissioner for Lands, Survey and
Urban Development, Surveyor Terry Noah.
Former Vice Chancellor, Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Uvie
Igun, Mr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, Barr. Edewor Omonemu, and a host of
notable politicians from the central senatorial district attended the
ceremony.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Utuama said the late Madam Nikoro was
a woman who believed in the supremacy of the party observing that she
was a political giant, a sage who had no equal in Urhobo land, an
astute politician who started in the era of NCNC to NPN and later,
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The
Deputy Governor disclosed that the news about Madam Nikoro's death
came as a shock to him because she was a mother to politicians from
Urhobo land assuring that members of Urhobo Political Class
identifies with the family at the loss of their mother and will be
involved during the burial ceremony.
Also speaking at the occasion, Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Chief
Ighoyota Amori noted that the late politician played active politics
till her last day.
Eminent personalities have also signed the condolence register opened
in honour of the late Madam Nikoro. Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan stated
in the condolence register that "Mama Alice Nikoro was a rare gem. She
was a great woman, a political icon, a great leader, we shall miss
you," while his deputy wrote; "a great political sage. We the Urhobo
Political Nation miss you and pray that God will receive your soul.

The
Delta State Government has received the report on the Amai, Ezionum
and Umuebu communal crisis from the committee, set up by it, on the
18th of May 2007, to look into reasons for the dispute in that part of
the state.
Receiving the report on behalf of the state government, the State
Deputy Governor, Prof Amos Utuama SAN, said the occasion, marked a
mile stone in the agenda of peace and security of the Uduaghan
Administration.
He
reiterated the present government's resolve to build on the Ibori
legacy, stating that the Peace report was as a result of the
foundation laid by the past administration which constituted the
committee.
Prof Utuama noted with great delight the roles played by the people of
the communities in resolving the age..long dispute between the three
communities of the state.
He
said the people themselves were the engine of bring about the peace
which is now been celebrated by the entire state through dialogue and
not might.
The
director of personnel management Ukwuani Local Government Obiaruku and
Chairman Peace Committee on Amai,Ezionum and Umuebu communal crisis,
Mr. Patrick Okoh while presenting the report said the conflict had
persisted for 44years and climaxed on the 2nd of may 2007 resulting in
total break down of law and order in that part of the state.
He
said all effort to resolve the crisis proved abortive until the
committee was constituted by the Ibori led government under the then
Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue.
The
committee chairman said among other things, it was agreed that the
people should refrain from rumour mongering and should always channel
any information capable of instigating crisis through their
traditional rulers to the appropriate government authority.
The Delta State Deputy Governor thanked the committee and promised to
look into the report to advance peace in the area.

Delta State Government calls on Individuals to join hands with
government to build an Egalitarian Society The Delta State Government
has stated that it is ready to partner with individuals to bring
empowerment to the people of the State.
The
State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama SAN, made the declaration,
during the official flag off of the Hon. and Chief Mrs. Taleb Tebile's
empowerment programme, Phase I. Prof. Utuama who spoke on behalf of
the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan said the programme is a
significant turning point in the empowerment agenda of the Uduaghan
Administration.
He
said since the inception of the present administration, only
Government and its agencies have been empowering people of the State
and therefore the move by the initiator of the programme deserves
commendation.
He called on all
Deltans especially those well placed to join hands to empower the
people who will in turn empower others, thereby creating a chain which
will bring about the birth of an egalitarian society.
The
Deputy Governor, appealed to the beneficiaries to remain loyal and
supportive of government and the initiator of the scheme.
Initiator of the empowerment programme, Hon. Taleb Tebite, who is the
majority leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, said the phase I
of the programme is targeted at keeping faith with the three point
Agenda of the State Government and his own contribution to the
betterment of Deltans and to make the people have a feel of the
dividends of democracy.
In all eight high
quality cars and cheque of N300,000.00 were given out in the phase I.
Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Olise Imegun, members Delta
State House of Assembly top politicians from Ughelli South and other
parts of the State attended the empowerment programme.
